EMERSON PARK SCHOOL
THE CAREERS INFORMATION AND RESOURCE CENTRE
At Emerson Park School we have our own full time careers and work experience co-ordinator, who is always available to see pupils, and parents by appointment in our fully resourced Careers information Centre situated on the main ground floor corridor. Along with our Connexions PA, she is also present at Year 9 Options and year 9, 10 and 11 Parent Consultation Evenings.
In Year 9, all pupils receive guidance and support in the choice of their study for Years 10 and 11, bearing in mind their aptitudes and capabilities and the requirements of the National Curriculum.
All pupils receive careers education during PSHE/Citizenship lessons as well as in Years 10 and 11 by individual consultations with the Personal Advisor from the Connexions Careers Service if required. Our Connexions PA also runs ‘drop in’ sessions on Monday lunchtime.
Workshops titled ‘Moving on from Emerson Park School’ are run in the Autumn term for Year 11 pupils and parents which provide guidance in the progression to further education or employment.
Each year a two week work experience placement is organised for Year 10 pupils and a Careers Day for Year 11’s. A bi-annual careers event is organised by the School’s Careers and Work Experience co-ordinator which is open to Years 7-11 pupils and Parents.
