The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is available at Emerson Park School for Year 10 & 11 pupils.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14-25, regardless of gender, background or ability. It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in their free time. At Emerson Park School the Award also offers key links to other areas of pupils’ education including: PE, JSLA and Citizenship.

Pupils can complete the Bronze and Silver level Award at Emerson Park School. The Award consists of 4 sections:
| Service: | Helping other people in the local community |
| Expeditions: | Training for, planning and completing a journey on foot, horseback, by boat or bicycle |
| Skills: | Covering almost any hobby, skill or interest |
| Physical recreation: | Sport, dance and fitness |
The Bronze Award is offered to Year 10 pupils and the Silver Award to Year 11. Pupils who participate in the Award will gain the following benefits:

- Leadership skills and activities.
- Exciting opportunities.
- Friendship.
- Experience of teamwork and decision-making.
- A network of local, national and international connections.
- Enjoyment.
