Learning a modern foreign language is becoming increasingly important in our society for both economic and cultural reasons. In our Faculty we aim to equip pupils with the necessary communication skills for work and leisure. We attach great value to speaking and listening tasks and the use of the target language forms the basis of our lessons.
This approach, in conjunction with the development of reading and writing skills, helps to prepare pupils for GCSE examinations. We seek to meet the needs of individual pupils not only by setting from Year 7, but also by differentiation of work within the sets. Spanish is offered from Year 7 as a second language to the most able pupils.
