Aims of the Science Faculty
We aim to provide all our students with the knowledge and understanding to engage, as informed citizens, with science based issues in an ever changing scientific world. Opportunities are provided for the students to further develop their understanding through the Triple Science option. OFSTED stated that students at Emerson Park School achieve well in Science. This year, Year 11 students achieved 83% A*-C grades in 21st Century Science.

Accommodation consists of seven laboratories, each with an interactive whiteboard, two of which contain a suite of computers.
KEY STAGE 3
All students study the new Exploring Science Course with emphasis on how Science works investigative skills and the relevance of science in a technological world. Pupils study science for six periods a fortnight in Years 7, 8 and 9. Pupils carry out investigative work throughout the Key Stage. Students are taught in mixed ability groups in Year 7 and in ability sets in Years 8 and 9.
KEY STAGE 4
At Key Stage 4 students are set according to ability. At Key Stage 4 pupils’ study science for nine periods per fortnight. Students study 21st Century Science (Double Award)-core and additional science.
Assessment for the 21st Century Science consists of:
- Coursework 33%
- Unit Tests 66%
Triple Science is offered as an option in Year 10 and 11. Assessment for 21st Century Triple Science consists of:
